A muddy creek bed near Lake Mamori

from Lake Mamori by David Michael

/

about

Surrounding Lake Mamori are a system of waterways that snake their way through the forest. In the rainy season the water levels flood much of the surrounding forest. In the dry season they recede to form little more than deep muddy creeks.

This recording is of one such muddy creek on an early evening in November, the end of the dry season. Fish are trapped in the pool. Birds begin to leave the following an afternoon feeding. Insects tune up for the evening. Bats make their appearance as the boats return to retrieve the recording equipment.

Recorded using Sennheiser MKH 30 & 40 microphones in an MS array. Decoded using soundhack +matrix. Eq'ed to taste.
